Two workers died in separate vehicle-related incidents at Brisbane worksites within three days, prompting investigations by WHSQ and RSHQ.

The following is an abridgement of an article originally published by NSCA Foundation.
A worker in his forties died after being crushed between two trucks at an infrastructure site in Tingalpa, Brisbane. Paramedics treated the man for life-threatening injuries at the scene, but he did not survive. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) confirmed it is investigating the incident.
Three days later, a worker was fatally injured in a forklift incident at a quarry in Sheldon. Emergency services attended the site on Monday afternoon, and Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) subsequently confirmed the fatality.
According to the NSCA Foundation, these incidents bring Brisbane’s known workplace death toll to five within a six-month period. Safe Work Australia data indicates that being struck by moving objects, including vehicles, remains a leading cause of workplace fatalities.
Both WHSQ and RSHQ are conducting ongoing investigations into the respective incidents.
