Join the upcoming Mining Industry Symposium held by the ECU MARS (Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety) Centre.
Learn about the latest research and best practices in mining WHS (work health and safety). The symposium will provide an opportunity to dive into creating a mentally healthy workplace, building a culture of safety and respect at work and what the future holds for mining WHS.
The MARS Centre is an ECU industry collaboration centre for the mining sector. The multidisciplinary MARS Centre works collaboratively with the West Australian mining industry to create mentally healthy workplaces, build a culture of safety and respect, and prepare for workplace safety in future mining.
Where: The DoubleTree by Hilston Waterfront hotel, 1 Barrack Square, Perth WA.
When: Tuesday 30th January, from 1:15pm - 5:00pm.
What: There will be two keynote presentations by internationally renowned scholars, Professor Michael Quinlan and Professor David Walters.
Keynote 1 - Contract Labour and Occupational Health and Safety in Mining: A Review of the Global Evidence and Learning from Failure.
Keynote 2 - Workers' Voice and Health and Safety in Coal Mining - An Australian Success Story?
You will also hear from MARS Centre members, Professor Tim Bentley, Associate Professor Marcus Cattani, and Dr Esme Franken, who will present their research findings and new taught courses (Graduate Certificate of Leadership in Mining Workplace Safety) designed for the sector.
